Dragonmarks

How legacy dragonmark variants differ from current feat-based options.

Dragonmarks are inherited magical sigils associated with particular services and families. The legacy rules represent them as species variants or subraces; the newer Forge rules use dragonmark feats. Those versions are separate choices.

Legacy character options

  • Humans and half-orcs use the replacement traits described by their mark.
  • Half-elves keep some base traits and replace those named in the chosen variant.
  • Dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings replace their subrace with the marked option.
  • An aberrant dragonmark is a separate feat and is not tied to one of the established houses.

A mark does not by itself determine employment or loyalty. A bearer may serve a house, work independently, be cut off from it, or have no house upbringing.

For current campaign society, see Dragonmarks.
