A dragonborn traveler approaches a riverside community in Q’barra.
Dragonborn are people with draconic features and an inheritance that can express itself through a powerful breath weapon. In Eberron, that inheritance does not make every dragonborn an emissary of Argonnessen's dragons, a servant of a particular god, or an interpreter of the Draconic Prophecy.
Q'barra and older communities
Q'barra, in eastern Khorvaire, is an important homeland for dragonborn communities. Their histories precede settlement of the region by refugees and colonists from the Five Nations. From Sharn, a map can make Q'barra look like distant open land; people already living there have their own settlements, obligations, and claims.
Dragonborn communities maintain distinct traditions. Connections with dragons can be understood through ancestry, religion, inherited duty, or political relationships. Those meanings vary. A traveler cannot infer them from the color of someone's scales.
Beyond a homeland
A dragonborn can be born in Sharn, arrive to study, travel with a trade mission, or leave a community for personal reasons. Attention attracted by a dramatic appearance rarely gives strangers useful knowledge about the person behind it.
In 1250, extraction and certified commerce connect Sharn with distant regions. Someone with family in Q'barra can encounter House systems as useful transport and as outside claims on land, labor, or resources. That experience need not dictate one allegiance.
