House Sivis: modern cockatrice emblem and commercial wordmark.

Mark of Scribing · Gnome lineages · Communication and documents

House Sivis helps words travel and makes documents usable between people who may never meet. Its familiar services include translation, messages, transcription, and certification. The Mark of Scribing supports work where an accurate meaning, a trustworthy copy, or a recognized signature can change what someone is able to do.

Speaking stones connect staffed locations over distance. A message moves through a service with a sender, recipient, delivery arrangements, and people handling it.

A staffed scroll room connects messages to their recipients.

Messages in the city

In Sharn in 1250, speaking stones and shared scroll rooms work more like fast post or telegraph services than a personal voice at everyone’s shoulder. Customers still rely on counters, facilities, and delivery. A lower-ward household using a shared room has a different experience from someone who can afford private service.

Documents have their own limits. A certificate can establish that a particular identity or statement was checked under a procedure. Reading what it actually certifies remains important when that paper is used to authorize access, settle a dispute, or support a contract.

Certifying identity

Sivis certifies enrollment for the Mana Standard. A witness medallion takes a small blood trace, or an appropriate personal trace for someone whose body requires another method. The certification supports a common identifier; separate Houses then establish their own accounts and service relationships.

For changelings, routine verification can fail when an appearance changes. A costly Sivis review can restore access, while missed work or a lost housing opportunity remains a real consequence. Warforged use a suitable personal trace.

The office is therefore more than a place to send a letter. It can be the point where a person has to persuade an institution to recognize them again. Sivis’s gnome families and its wider workforce sustain a service whose ordinary paperwork carries substantial weight in the city.

Modern House identity

In 1250, Sivis's commercial identity uses a cockatrice in indigo and coral. A crested cockatrice joins a rooster profile and batlike wing to a curling serpent tail with a quill-like tip. Clear serif lettering connects the emblem to messages and certified documents.

Its advertising line is Your word, carried. The emblem appears across everyday business alongside the ancestral arms retained in formal House settings.
