Mark of Sentinel · Human lineages · Mercenaries and protection
House Deneith sells trained defense. Its long military tradition combines discipline, watchfulness, and the protection of a client. The Mark of Sentinel supports that work through gifts associated with anticipating danger and shielding others.
The Blademarks are associated with mercenary service; the Defender’s Guild with personal protection. Both draw on professional training and a chain of command. A contract gives that discipline a destination: whose life, goods, or interests a hired force is expected to protect.
Guards and Marshals
The Sentinel Marshals have a distinct, recognized law-enforcement role. Ordinary House guards and mercenaries work under different authority. In Sharn, Deneith’s services exist alongside the Watch, royal institutions, and the courts. The city’s institutions have their own jurisdictions and responsibilities.
Paid protection is also a visible expression of wealth. A client who can hire skilled professionals has options that a tenant relying on neighbors and a distant Watch post lacks. The seriousness of a threat and the resources available to answer it are separate questions.

Service in the city
In 1250, Deneith operates within the larger House economy, where institutions and employers can shape several parts of an employee’s livelihood. Staff can take their duty to protect seriously while finding their judgment constrained by the terms of employment.

Modern House identity
In 1250, Deneith's commercial identity uses a chimera in oxblood and steel gray. Three interlocking heads—a lion, a horned goat, and a dragon—rise above a compact breastplate-like base. Strong upright lettering accompanies the disciplined silhouette.
Its advertising line is Stand protected. The emblem appears across everyday business alongside the ancestral arms retained in formal House settings.
