House Medani: modern basilisk emblem and commercial wordmark.

Mark of Detection · Khoravar lineages · Warning and investigation

House Medani works to recognize danger and uncover information. Its Mark of Detection supports a profession built around attention, inquiry, and the interpretation of evidence. Protection can mean noticing a threat before it reaches a client rather than meeting it with a drawn weapon.

Investigation involves records, witnesses, access, and the ability to distinguish an observation from an explanation. A warning is valuable precisely because it arrives before certainty; proving responsibility can require more work. Medani’s public services sit at that junction between suspicion and a case someone can act upon.

Private inquiry begins with records, questions, and careful attention.

Private inquiry and public law

In Sharn, a House investigator works alongside a wider legal order. The Watch, courts, and national institutions hold their own authority. Medani’s ordinary agents are private professionals whose access depends on their position, permissions, and the people willing to cooperate.

An expensive investigation can gather help, expertise, and time that a person without resources struggles to obtain. Evidence also passes through institutions: the person who finds a fact, the client who paid for the work, and the court asked to consider it can have different interests.

Medani in 1250

The House retains its public work in detection, warning, and investigation within the Concord economy. Its personnel can find professional duties pulling against employer relationships or obligations to clients. Institutional access is useful partly because it is difficult for an outsider to obtain.

Medani shares Khoravar lineage with Lyrandar’s marked families while pursuing a very different business.

Background: Inquisitives and the Law.

Modern House identity

In 1250, Medani's commercial identity uses a basilisk in dark green and brass. An alert basilisk holds its head above a long, low body and curling tail. A prominent watchful eye and precise lettering emphasize attention and early warning.

Its advertising line is See what matters. The emblem appears across everyday business alongside the ancestral arms retained in formal House settings.
