House Thuranni: modern displacer beast emblem and commercial wordmark.

Mark of Shadow · Elven lineages · Arts and patronage

House Thuranni is one of two recognized Houses whose families carry the Mark of Shadow. Its public work includes performance, artistic training, and patronage. Illusion and related gifts can become tools of expression in the hands of a practiced artist, alongside skills learned through ordinary rehearsal and study.

A divided inheritance

Thuranni separated from House Phiarlan during the Last War era. What was a recent division in the years immediately after that war is a much older institutional history by 1250. The shared mark survives across two separate Houses, each with its own business and relationships.

That history is part of the wider story of the dragonmarked Houses: inherited magic can unite families without keeping every branch inside a single institution.

Artists and institutions

A patron can provide resources that an artist could not gather alone: time, space, materials, professional connections, and an audience. Those benefits can also put a livelihood in someone else’s hands. The question of who can continue working after refusing a patron is familiar far beyond the arts.

In Sharn, that relationship sits within the same uneven city that surrounds other professions. House employees and independent artists both have practical needs, while a recognized institution can provide considerably more room to withstand a bad season or a lost opportunity.

Thuranni’s elven lineages can carry artistic traditions, teacher-student relationships, and family memories across centuries.

Modern House identity

In 1250, Thuranni's commercial identity uses a displacer beast in near-black plum and lavender. A sleek six-legged feline extends two shoulder tentacles with barbed tips. A displaced contour echoes its outline, while restrained, widely spaced lettering gives the emblem the character of a luxury arts institution.

Its advertising line is Leave an impression. The emblem appears across everyday business alongside the ancestral arms retained in formal House settings.
