Lizardfolk guide a skiff through an inhabited wetland in Q’barra.

Lizardfolk are reptilian people with communities in Q'barra, Xen'drik, and other regions of Eberron. They are distinct from dragonborn and kobolds, despite the careless habit of some outsiders of treating every scaled person as the same people.

Q'barra and the land

Q'barra's wetlands are a homeland, with settlements, routes, resources, and inherited obligations that may be unfamiliar to a visitor from the Five Nations. An area that appears empty on a settler's survey can already be part of a community's working landscape.

Accounts of Q'barra describe the Cold Sun Federation among its lizardfolk communities, alongside other groups with different aims and faiths. Those names do not make every lizardfolk traveler a representative of one institution. Centuries of local history cannot be reduced to a single outsider's description.

Crossing distances

Communities in Xen'drik developed amid different environments and pressures. The shared term “lizardfolk” does not erase those differences, any more than it supplies a universal language of politics or religion.

In Sharn, food, clothing, bathing spaces, and comfortable rooms can require practical arrangements. A visitor may encounter those needs before an official considers them. A resident can build a life through work, family, study, or companionship without giving up every attachment to another homeland. That life belongs alongside the city's many peoples and cultures.
