Dura is one of Sharn's older quarters, with working neighborhoods and a long association with people making their way outside the city's comfortable institutions. Its buildings and communities differ sharply from ward to ward. An old address can carry family history, a useful connection, or the cost of repairs postponed too many times.

A quarter with several lives

The historical maps place Callestan in Lower Dura and Clifftop in Upper Dura. Callestan is a familiar name in accounts of Sharn's rougher streets, while Clifftop has strong associations with adventurers. Those reputations are part of the quarter's history, alongside the homes and trades that make ordinary life possible.

Upper, middle, and lower Dura are not interchangeable. Height affects light, transport, and the resources available when a problem needs attention. A wealthy visitor passing through an upper district and a worker returning to a lower landing can experience very different parts of the same quarter.

Neighbors and obligations

In Mana Standard's Sharn, lower-ward life includes shared meals, tool sharing, repair circles, and people teaching one another. Help may come from a neighbor long before an institution responds. That network also rests on people's limited time and supplies; the person helping today may need help next week.

Poverty is not a faction membership. A shopkeeper under pressure from a criminal network, an organizer helping tenants, and a House employee struggling with rent can live on the same landing with different obligations. The faction guide separates those relationships.

Life on the landings covers everyday conditions. The vertical guide and maps help place a Dura address within the wider city.
